Empowering Communities fights back against Human Trafficking

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and that means the 3rd Annual ‘Empowering Communities’ Human Trafficking Awareness event is taking place January 11th, 2022. Make plans to attend for some great speakers on topics like border violence, online safety, information for survivors, and more!In the week leading up to the event, Empowering Communities is facilitating a number of activities to help spread the word and bring focus to this important topic.

• Jan 3rd: Silent Walk for Freedom (5:30pm-6:30pm, Willacy County Courthouse lawn, please bring a candle 🕯️ as the walk will also serve as a vigil for victims and survivors)

• Jan 3rd: Blue Ribbon Kick-Off (Blue ribbons will be placed throughout the county)

• Jan 3rd-5th: Virtual Silent Walk (Deadline to submit pictures: January 6th at 10am,submit to mcortez@bhsst.org or martha.martinez@co.willacy.tx.us)

• Jan 6th & 11th: Blue Day (Wear something blue and share on social media with the tag #WearBlueDay)
