Uniting Neighbors In Drug Abuse Defense (UNIDAD)
UNIDAD Coalition’s focus is to encourage community mobilization to implement evidence-based environmental strategies, change policy and
social norms in communities to prevent and reduce underage drinking. UNIDAD Coalition also aims to prevent marijuana or prescription drug
use/abuse based on the identified needs of the community mobilization and the implementation of evidence-based environmental strategies
Information dissemination strategy to increase community awareness regarding the health consequence of subtance and abuse specifically
alcohol (underage drinking), marijuana and prescription drug abuse. Increase citizen participant and commitment among the community
toward reducing substance use and abuse. The selected evidence-based environmental and social policy strategies to be implemented by the
UNIDAD Coalition members are social events monitoring and enforcement; retailer compliance checks; retailer education; and social norms
Primary population is youth ages 6-18 (1st – 12th grades) from the general population, such as all students in a school. Secondary population
includes the parents, grandparents, guardians, and siblings of the youth participants.
Monday – Thursday 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Friday 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
