The Tobacco Prevention and Control Coalition, previously located in Hidalgo County, aims to promote and advocate for a tobacco-free environment by empowering communities to affect and social change and promote compliance and support for enforcement of all tobacco laws. The coalition’s focus is to encourage community mobilization to implement evidence-based environmental strategies, change policy and social norms in communities.
The coalition provides a variety of services including tobacco cessation, tobacco prevention for minors, promotion of compliance of federal/state/local laws, elimination of secondhand smoke, and reducing tobacco use among populations with the highest burden of tobacco-related health disparities.
